Saint Stephen’s helps provide a little extra for Christmas through Greater Birmingham Ministries - an article by Zach Peagler

We will be collecting food items for 8 families in the Cahaba Heights area for Christmas and making them a homemade Christmas dinner. Would you and your family like to help?

The Deacon’s Fund is a new fund within the Saint Stephen’s Charitable Foundation that ensures the church can radically support new and creative outreach endeavors in the spirit of the Deacon. It is created in honor of the ministry of the Rev. CJ Van Slyke on her retirement from active ministry.

Well done, Saint Stephen’s! Together we have achieved 50,000 hours of Bible study, prayer, and service to the community.

On September 30, 2019, three hundred volunteers from all over the country came together to build eleven new homes in the Beauregard Community that was destroyed by a tornado back in March .  One of those homes was sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama and individual parishes. 

Saint Stephen’s Launches 2020 Stewardship Campaign: Planting Seeds of Hopefulness

Saint Stephen’s is thrilled to welcome the Rev. Katherine Harper as Associate Rector to Saint Stephen’s. Her first Sunday will be Sunday, December 1, 2019.

Choir for Children and Youth begins September 11. All Choirs rehearse in the Children’s Choir Room, room 143.

Saint Stephen’s will now host quarterly art exhibits to engage the community and encourage an appreciation of the arts. September will host an exhibit featuring the work of Fred Marchman.

For every day a parishioner from Saint Stephen’s volunteers on the build, the church will match that day of service with a gift of $250. Your volunteer time will not only help rebuild a home but will be matched with a financial gift from our Church. We want you to help Saint Stephen’s build a home and commit to a $10,000 gift. Who’s in?

The Saint Stephen’s Nursery is looking for staff members 18+ with childcare experience. Younger teens can be volunteers for service credit hours.

Join us on Sunday, August 11 for a day of celebration and sharing ministries. With the start of a new school year, it is a wonderful opportunity to get plugged into to new ministries and programs. Come and join us!

The Diocese of Alabama has been invited to rebuild a home for the Melton/Griffin family in Lee county that was destroyed by a tornado. Build days are September 30 to October 11.

On Saturday, August 10, you are invited to join Saint Stephen’s, the Diocese of Alabama and others around the globe making pilgrimage remembering the martyrs of Alabama in Hayneville, Alabama.
