Become A Member
Becoming a member of Saint Stephen’s means that we have recorded the date of your baptism in the parish registry or you have been baptized here. If you have been baptized at another church and would like to be a member, you can either fill out our online membership form, share the date of your baptism with our church office, or let us know and our church staff will call and request the information be sent to Saint Stephen’s.
Saint Stephen’s is an open and inclusive church. All people are invited to fully participate in the life of the church with few exceptions. Membership is required to vote at the annual meeting or for a family member to be married at Saint Stephen’s. The Episcopal Church canons require that someone must be Confirmed (or Received) to serve on the Vestry or to be a Eucharistic Minister.
All sacraments are open to all of those who are baptized. Confirmation classes are offered at least once a year, usually in September and October. Many people consider being Confirmed or Received in the Episcopal Church as important for what it means to be “an Episcopalian.” Confirmation is a sacrament, an outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace, where members confirm their desire to explore a deeper relationship with Christ. To be received in the church means that you have been baptized in another denomination and are now wanting to confirm your membership and your relationship with Christ in the Episcopal Church.
