Welcome Taylor McLemore - Minister for Youth Formation

Dear Saint Stephen’s,

I am thrilled to share that we have called Taylor McLemore to be our new Minister for Youth Formation. Taylor will graduate from Auburn University this weekend and will begin his ministry with us on Monday, August 8. For the past four years, Taylor has worked with the youth of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Auburn, and for the past year has led programs for college-age students including several from our church.

Taylor has spent three summers on the staff of Camp McDowell leading programs and activities, often the person responsible for the creation of new and bizarre games that have become cult favorites at camp such as the wi-fi scavenger hunt for staff. He has the highest recommendation from our Canon to the Ordinary, the Rev. Canon Geoff Evans, who was the rector at Holy Trinity during Taylor’s tenure. Taylor’s background in both youth ministry and construction and design (he worked as a construction estimator as an internship for his design program) give him a unique skill set drawing on both creativity and an acute attention to detail.

Taylor is a lifelong Episcopalian, growing up at Church of the Holy Comforter and Church of the Ascension in Montgomery. He is the grandson of the Rev. Bill McLemore, who served our diocese for many decades. I am delighted both that Taylor has joined our staff and for the bright future of our youth program. He will join our EYC trip to Six Flags on Saturday, August 13, and will greet parents at our youth parent meeting on Sunday, August 14, at 10:15 a.m. in the Parish Hall. I can’t wait for you to meet Taylor.

Faithfully,

The Rev. John B. Burruss
