Information About Receiving Communion at St. Stephen's

Baptized people of all ages are invited to take communion at St. Stephen's. The bread should be received into the palm of your hand.

You can receive the wine in two ways: 1) reach out and guide the chalice to your lips and take a small sip, or 2) dip the tip of the wafer in the wine. If a child is very small, it is helpful for the parent to dip the wafer and put it in the child's mouth.

If you don't wish to drink the wine, 1) you may indicate this by crossing your arms over your chest, or 2) you may guide the chalice to your lips and simply kiss the outside of the chalice.

The Altar Guild requests that ladies remove excess lipstick before taking communion.
